a collaborative project translating an experimental jazz album into a wearable, physical extension
DYSTIL
back in 2017, when i was at my childhood home for the summer, my older brother and a couple of his friends stayed with us to work on an experimental jazz album. They lived with us for over a month, recording hours and hours of unusual sounds, edgy vocals, and over 20 different instruments in our living room turned acoustically-balanced studio… IT was incredible to see and hear their raw creativity on full display.
months later, ahead of the album release, they reached out to collaborate on a wearabale extension of their project. eagerly, and without listening to the final mix, I designed a handful of logos and a set of flowing, asymetrically-reworked t-shirts based on my interpretation of the unfiltered sounds I heard that previous, unforgettable summer.
